I didn't hear about this when it happened over the weekend, someone sent out a broadcast and I asked what it was about ~ he seemed too enraged to explain properly.
I didn't think anything of it, until Seun another friend of mine asked me if I had seen the video everybody was talking about?
'No', i said, 'What's happening?'
'Four boys were killed, and there's a video of it'
The link didn't work so I decided to get on twitter and find out what was going on, and then it dawned on me. There were many versions of what happened and emotions were running rampant.
But the most compelling and significant thing, those four guys were dead.
I don't know them but I woke up crying for them today, I watched the video and its the most barbaric I've ever seen.
Whatever the reason may be, there was no reason for their lives to be ended,in that manner or any manner.
But you know what I was thinking yesterday? I was despondent, and I thought to myself, what is the point of speaking up? Nothing ever gets done and if one does, how long do they pay attention for before moving onto the next issue and forgetting all about it.
If those were my brothers, if those were my friends, what if they were my cousins ~ the horror of it all can't even be imagined, well there's no need to imagine it ~ it happened.
And to think, I spoke to people and they said that sort of thing happens every day in lagos, only we don't see it cause there's nobody there to film it.
One of their sisters was there, I don't want to begin to imagine what state of mind she's in right now.
May God Bless their souls ~ and may they forever Rest Eternally In the Bosom of the Almighty Lord
